I earned my stripes working in high-end residential interior design. I enjoyed the limitless funds and the extravagant tastes, and I loved sourcing unique antiques and the finest fabrics and finishes. However, I eventually grew weary of creating spaces that would be seen by only a privileged few--they felt like forms without function.

I went on to take a job in commercial construction--where I had my very own hard hat. Working alongside general contractors and estimators, I learned how to budget and manage projects, and saw firsthand the way parts come together to create a whole. I became a LEED Accredited Professional, and earned the respect of the field crew. I was gladdened by the problem solving required, but saddened by the lack of aesthetic stimulation, and after much deliberation, returned to interior design.

Before long, an entrepreneurial friend called me up to help him design & manage the build-out of a (soon to be very popular) nightclub, and the current iteration of my career was born. I have spent the last decade specializing in the interior design and full project management of hospitality fit outs in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and beyond, and couldn’t be happier for it.

Out of this history, Butchko & Co. came to be. The “Butchko” is me--my experience, skills, and vision. The “& Co.” represents the company I keep, the collaborations I cultivate, and the roles I play in the conception, contributing design, construction, and completion of spaces and places.

This website serves as a portfolio of my projects as well as a launching pad for future endeavors, many as a member of The Springs Collective. I thank you for your interest, and hope to hear from you soon.
